The path is unknown and the pull feels real.
Sarah Tacy [00:02:21]
Together we share our grief, laughter, love and life saving tools. Join us. Hello and welcome to Threshold Moments. I did something that I don't generally do, which is I did a really small interview for my mini musing. And it's not really an interview either.
Sarah Tacy [00:02:48]
It's just that I have my friend Jennifer Rasiopi, who is an incredible astrologer, coach, author, businesswoman, entrepreneur, soul studier, ritual maker. Come on and give us a little bit of a review of 2023 and what we could expect going into 2024 astrologically, because at this time of year we could say that it's a threshold. So every week Jen and I for the last year have met for what I've coined as a raw session, which is we get together just to reflect, have accountability and to amplify. And yeah, today I was like, any chance I could hit record and you could say a thing or two astrologically? And also wanting to say I'm going to do an entire episode with her so that you can really hear the range that she has and learn from her life experience and or be accompanied by her life experience, which is just really real.
Sarah Tacy [00:03:52]
And whenever she talks to me about any area of her life, whether it is from relational to business to personal to spiritual, she says these things that my mind and body and solar option, just like, you know, when you have those like or the like, the exhale or the inhale, one of those ones that becomes exaggerated depending on how it hits you. Jen does that for me quite often. So we did the session without any bio, but I actually thought maybe it would be nice for me to read a thing or two from her website so that you could have a little bit of context of who she is. Jen is obsessed with astrology, business and evidence based science, particularly as it pertains to Women's Health, success and well-being. She's dedicated her life to helping women amplify their impact, maintain their health and enjoy their lives.
Sarah Tacy [00:04:49]
She's here to inspire people into action, helping them to hear their own voice and the voice of their soul, and to find their superpower and to heal their shadow and to honor the health as they move forward to their most significant life goals. Jen, as I understand it, she is a cancer survivor from the age of 18, she has studied positive psychology. Before somatic experiencing became a very popular thing, especially in the last three or four years, she studied with a grandfather of that discipline, I must say, like 20 years ago with Peter Levine. She's an incredible businesswoman. She's the author of Cosmic Health and she's both highly accomplished business wise as well as somebody who is constantly going in and in and in and in.
Sarah Tacy [00:05:46]
And I think that the range of things that she studied and how what a quick study she is, is what's made her astrological reading so profound in the way that she can integrate multiple fields to make it make sense. And most importantly, she tends to really empower her listeners, or maybe the person she's coaching or the one-on-one reading for, to see how they can make choice in a world that has many external pulls and impacts. You could also see her on the Today Show. She is a frequent guest on the Today Show with Hoda and Jenna as their resident astrologer. So how lucky are we that we also get to have her here?
Sarah Tacy [00:06:31]
So without further ado, I will let you listen in to Jen or Jennifer Racioppi and hear her brilliance and what she has to offer us. And again, be on the lookout for another episode that will come from her, probably January, February or March. Enjoy. Welcome to Threshold moments. Today we have a mini musing to walk us from one year into the next.
Sarah Tacy [00:07:09]
And I am really, really delighted to have Jennifer Rasio be here with us. She'll be here on a full episode where we'll do the full bio and you'll get, I think, a really nice feel for the depth of her soul, her lived experience, her work as a coach and astrologer and a human on this planet. And for today, she is going to give us an Astro outlook recapping the year end with a new year beginning stuff. Yes, please.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:07:49]
Well, welcome in honor. You know, as we're recording this, we're looking at the start of this new year and you know, just to think about where we are right now in all of the astrology, it's first one Mercury retrograde, the New Year's beginning with Mercury stationing direct on January 1st, which is actually really rare. So often we think January 1st is a new beginning and then we look at the astrology and we're like, well, give it two weeks, give it a month. And this year it's like pretty bang on. I mean, we're coming into the new year pretty gangbusters.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:08:24]
We only will have after Mercury stations direct on January 1st, Uranus retrograde and then pretty quickly Uranus stations direct and we won't have any retrograde planets for a little bit of time. So Uranus stations retrograde on January 27th, but for all of January there's only one retrograde planet and it's an outer planet Uranus. So what does that mean? It means that we're really coming into this new year ready to initiate, make things happen. We're at the tail end of this Pluto in Capricorn cycle
Jennifer Racioppi [00:09:00]
So Pluto is an outer planet. It's a transpersonal planet. It correlates with big long term cycles and depending on how it shows up for us individually, it may or may not be impacting us that much, but culturally it's impacting everyone. And then there's specific aspects that would be impacting you a lot if they were happening in your chart. But just to sum it up, we've had Pluto and Capricorn since 2008, 2009.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:09:29]
So Pluto brings us into some version of hell. Pluto rules the lower world. It brings us, It reveals the secret and helps us figure out what needs to be changed in order for us to be our strongest, most revitalized, truest selves, right. So when we're looking at this in a cultural context, in 2000 and eight, 2009, Pluto was just moving into Capricorn. Capricorn rules banking business and we had this pretty huge economic collapse with the mortgage industry and the housing, you know, world of real estate, etcetera.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:10:11]
And that was like Pluto's hello to Capricorn. Well, we've had Pluto flirting with the early degrees of Aquarius and Pluto retrograde back to Capricorn. He's now coming back into Aquarius. So Pluto's been hanging out at the end of Capricorn, beginning of Aquarius for a little bit of time now. But as we start the new year, he's wrapping up the segment of time in Capricorn, moving into Aquarius on January 20th.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:10:39]
And he'll be an Aquarius for almost all of 2024 until the fall. And then he retrogrades back into Capricorn, cleans it up for one last time, and then moves into Aquarius. But if we think about what we saw emerge this year, it was a huge trends towards things like AI, artificial intelligence, and we think about Pluto moving into Aquarius. Aquarius assign that rules technology. And we've seen these major shifts in how technology is being used.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:11:13]
And depending on who you talk to, AI is great or AI is evil. AI in and of itself isn't anything it's amoral, right? But it's how humans are using AI that may lead to greater creativity, greater creative thinking, more time freedom and or less creativity, less critical thinking and rather than time freedom, loss of jobs and income. So it's this threshold moment. If we really think about this Pluto transit, we are entering the new year in a threshold moment where the cosmic curriculum through these astrological cycles is, is deeply shifting.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:11:49]
And I would think on a personal level, what's important to think about on an individual basis is what are the big cycles that you're wrapping up? What have you learned? You know, we've all been going through huge transformations of our own emotional resonances with others, what we will and will not tolerate in dynamics of our work or how we're relating to others or boundaries in our interpersonal dynamics. There's been massive endings, lots of grief. Culturally, we're at a crossroads.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:12:26]
Obviously, the war in the Middle East. I'm not going to comment on what solutions are to these problems because Lord knows I don't have them. I'm just looking at the transits and what's going on is that there's a reckoning. There's a reckoning with anything that's gotten shoved underneath the carpet is like the time is up. We can't shove things under the carpet anymore.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:12:46]
We've kind of like got to really confront things. So on a personal level, I think we're all doing that in our own ways. We're establishing new norms of how we are in relationship and dynamics for others and what that means. And I think for a lot of us, there's been a grieving cycle. There's been, OK, this isn't working, retreat and now grieve.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:13:06]
So I'm actually quite hopeful about stepping into the new year because I think we're stepping into the new year with a lot of opportunity to get things going and start to make things happen. So we have Pluto at the end of Capricorn as we're recording and it will be at the end of Capricorn until January 20th.
Sarah Tacy [00:13:22]
Can you tell me exactly what Pluto stands for? Yeah, So I hear it like in relationship to Capricorn and I'm married to a Capricorn. So I like have a little bit more of a feeling. And you said finances and bank and but I'm wondering if you could just say another thing or two about Pluto so that as I listen back to this again and people are listening through that, anyone who's like me who doesn't fully understand astrology could put it together even better.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:13:48]
We could talk about Pluto until the cows return to Earth or whatever the saying is, because Pluto is so dynamic, right? Pluto, Pluton, in mythology, he represents Haiti's hell, and he was actually in some research it shows given the euphemism of Pluto, because you couldn't even say the word haze because it was like you would conjure it. So if we think of Pluto, we think of the parts of humanity that are difficult to encounter. Ruler of Scorpio, Sex, death, taxes, transformation. There was a time in my life as an astrologer where I just didn't get Pluto like I would see.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:14:30]
And I would kind of almost have like textbook things to say around Pluto transits until I had a Pluto transit in my own life and it changed everything. And what I've learned about Pluto is wherever Pluto is via transit in your chart or via sky for the collective, it's not there to just like, kind of make things hard, though there is a period with Pluto where things will be hard. Pluto gets us to the core of our truth and eliminates every untruth there was so that we can stand in our power. So yeah, Pluto is this really sort of dark energy from a theoretical place, but Pluto actually gets you to the core of all the power. Wherever Pluto goes, it's radical transformation and what's left after a Pluto transit is what's just real.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:15:24]
So all untruths are being weeded out. All things that just can't stand the test of time must go when a Pluto transit happens in a certain area or aspect of a chart. So we're talking about a collectively like Pluto was in Capricorn, we saw a banking transformation, now Pluto is moving into Aquarius, we're going to see a technological transformation amongst other things. It's really way more complicated than a mini musing.
Sarah Tacy [00:15:52]
I'm sorry, I just thought you had to hear a.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:15:53]
Little more. And when you admit it.
Sarah Tacy [00:15:55]
Really like I'm getting like, I don't want to say worked up is the wrong word, but I'm like, wow, that's like I'm seeing it in a whole another light. And I can see how something that could seem devastating to me, when you put it in the way of shedding away anything that is an absolute truth within that realm then helps to bring some meaning and excitement. And when we think of like, man's need for meaning or humans need for meaning, it's actually really helpful for me to hear you describe what you just described. So yeah, you think any extra time to do that?
Jennifer Racioppi [00:16:29]
And I'm happy to, you know, and it's the part about it is, is like nobody's listening to Threshold Moments podcast unless they haven't already been ushered through a threshold where they have been like, oh, my definition of what it means to be a mom or a woman or to be successful in my career or go to college, get a mortgage, marry some whatever these conventional definitions of identity have already. You know, we're here because we're doing the work of like shedding the superficial, getting to the core and the truth of what it is we're here for an owning that despite the consequences, you know, and there aren't consequences just stepping aside from dynamics that aren't in alignment in truth. But the reality is, is that when you strip everything down with what you're left with is the quintessence of what is, and that's vulnerable. That's hard. But I don't want to be on this planet for any other reason.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:17:29]
And I don't think you do, and I don't think your listeners do. So yeah, I think that where we're at is so profound because we are moving through these cosmic cross sections of time where we're completing a chapter where we've all been stripped down to our core. You know, what are we doing for our time? How are we making money? What are we doing for our contribution to this planet?
Jennifer Racioppi [00:17:54]
How are we relating to the work aspect of who we are? What is our truth? And now we're being asked to emerge in this new paradigm of collective consciousness and how we're all going to work together. And I think along the way, we've all had to look at how we're relating to our roles and functions and the people we're doing those roles and functions with and get to that Platonic core truth. And now we're wrapping up a huge segment of time.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:18:25]
We're taking the Nuggets of what we've learned so deeply and we're launching into the future. And that's essentially where we're at right now. So I'm glad we spent extra time to just peel that back because it's not small.
Sarah Tacy [00:18:39]
Yeah, in 2008 to 2024, right. That's kind of what I'm hearing, yeah.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:18:46]
Yeah. And then you know.
Sarah Tacy [00:18:48]
Coming back for a bit in 2024 in the fall.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:18:51]
And usually when we have the end cycle, it's where we get the lesson. It's like where we get the reward for the lesson because that's the other thing you get rewarded for these transits. And again, before I went through really personal Pluto transits in my own chart in life, like I could have told you that, but I didn't embody it. And having gone through some Pluto stuff myself, I'm like, oh, that's like that. There aren't like this.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:19:17]
It's the best feeling, right, to be like in your the world could, you know, do what it wants to do with me. But I'm really happy, you know, like I really I'm doing and I feel like I'm on. Yeah. It's like this is all there for me. And I'm getting that right now, you know, like those feelings.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:19:37]
So I think that the fall it's going to be collectively we're going to be in another election in this country. You know, like there's a lot that 2024 brings. Yeah. I can't say it's going to all be OK. But I think individually, particularly for our listeners or your listeners and people who are tuning in, it's like, yeah, to just like kind of really pat yourself on the back for all that stinking hard work.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:20:05]
Find that reward in your individual ability to hold your edge and choose your lane. Grieve the sadness of leaving parts of yourself and, and, and dream something and come to fruition and hope for how dynamics would be with others in the past because that's real, right? And then gather the you that's remaining and start to step into the new year, planting seeds of what you're really here to do, because it's going to happen. It's going to happen fast. There's the New Year's going to happen fast.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:20:42]
And then by the time we get to fall, we're going to be in some the thick of some collective decisions that going to shape our future, the global future that, you know, our immediate communities. Yeah, as these things go, as of late, it gets ugly.
Sarah Tacy [00:21:00]
Right before I asked that question, you were about to move from talking about Pluto to focusing on another hearing that's about to happen as we move into the new year.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:21:13]
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's about to talk about Saturn. Saturn's the planet of discipline and structure. Saturn is in Pisces and it's at the early degrees of Pisces, so I think we're kicking off the year with Saturn at one or two degrees of Pisces. We just look some years, 1 Saturn's is at Saturn's at 3-3 degrees of Pisces.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:21:35]
So that means Saturn's in the early degrees of Pisces. Now Saturn has been in Pisces, retrograded back, started again. Again, it's like these cosmic dances where they get a little bit far and then they call, so they go retrograde, which is never a planet actually going backwards. It just appears to be going backwards in our sky, but we trace those degrees back and then he moves forward. So Saturn's early in the, in the Piscean, the sign of Pisces.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:22:00]
And So what does that mean? Well, we're launching in, in new directions. Pisces again is the last sign of the Zodiac. So inherent in Pisces, it does deal with endings, you know, wrapping things up. But Saturn's where Saturn is where we're going to do our work.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:22:21]
And let's just talk about what Pisces is dreams, intuition, empathy, compassion, the non verbal or embodiment, spirituality or intuition. And so all of 2024 is shaded by Saturn in in Pisces. And you know, depending on where Pisces falls in your chart or how Pisces, how much Pisces you have, if we're all going to be going through there and where your Saturn placement is too. We're all going to have different relationships to this. But we can expect things like sleep, meditation, spiritual studies to be really important this next year.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:23:03]
You know, I've seen a growing emphasis on how important sleep is to health and well-being and different sleep science from different types of mattresses to technological advances on tracking how well you're sleeping and ways to optimize your sleep. But we can expect that to not only sustain, but perhaps get bigger and and hopefully really embody that getting restful sleep knowing that we're doing the deep core work of getting to the soul of who we are and we are giving ourselves plenty of time. Forrest thoughts on in the event No.
Sarah Tacy [00:23:39]
I'm just, yeah, I love the thought that, I mean, you just said it, so it's silly for me to say it again. But here I go and say that what you say here we are doing the deep core work and shedding. And I even when I hear you said Pisces being endings as well, discipline with endings as well as the dreams, intuition and compassion. And I'm just thinking about when you're shedding all these things, that also means that you're creating new boundaries and then thinking about the discipline to actually end something instead of that. Like you can think of an end of relationship when it just keeps going.
Sarah Tacy [00:24:13]
It's like actually ending something and creating, I imagine, new beginnings. And what I'm hearing too is in a nervous system way of geeking out. It's just like they've got great care. That idea of really resourcing ourselves as we go into a new phase or as we leave something behind, really understanding the importance and necessity of sleep of you just said it all, spiritual practice, meditation, and I'm hearing resources. And I'm wondering because the nervous system stuff and the emphasis that I've had over the last couple years on being in relationship through healing or coming out of healing, is there anything about relationships that switches up into 2024 or anything that people might notice?
Jennifer Racioppi [00:25:06]
Yeah. I mean, I think the way you said that actually just brought something to mind is that we're really in a in a liminal space, right? We're in in this time of tremendous endings, huge cycles coming to closure that aren't meat and packaged, right. Like we'll continue to do this work in 2020 or we'll start to get the gifts. But I think what you said around being brave enough to end things is a big piece of this, and I haven't hadn't really thought of it that way.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:25:39]
So I appreciate the way that you just reflected that. The other thing that I didn't mention is psychedelics. Alex is like that mystical world. Saturn's like you see all this research on psychedelics really coming into the forefront of academia and different ways of medical looking at, you know, mental health and whatnot. And that is very Saturn in Pisces too.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:26:02]
Our relational dynamics with others. I think that we're all on this upgrade journey. We have Jupiter and Taurus until Jupiter's expansion and growth, right? It's been in Taurus. It'll stay in Taurus until mid spring, early June ish, late May, I think.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:26:22]
And Jupiter and Gemini is going to have our social dynamics really very active, right? So we're looking at a very socially active Northern hemisphere late spring, summer time. And I think that it's interesting because we've gone through these incredible periods of isolation, through the pandemic, this re emergence into life. And it's like we've all changed so much. We've all done without social connection and re engaged in social connection.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:26:58]
How we've lived has shifted so profoundly. And I think that there's just a lot of new community on its way. And I think that that's something I, you know, just really want everyone to know is like, there's an odd duck moment with all this work where you're just not, I mean, like, I've gone through it. I, I don't know, you know, how to avoid it if you're really doing the work, but to stay hopeful. Because as we all do this work and we sort out who we're resonating with, who we're not resonating, who's reminding us of a trigger that we're now moving away from.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:27:31]
It's like, just remember, it's never really that other person. It's who that person's reminding you of and what they're bringing to your attention that you maybe already have and don't want to work through again, or maybe still have to. And now you're trying to avoid it. Everyone's just a reflection and we're all at different levels in where we're at, in our nervous system, healing, our ability to source and sense ourselves, our ability to hold awkward pauses or not, you know, I mean, yeah, no one's at the same place at the same time. And but I do think that we're there's lots of opportunities for it all to be a bit of game of musical chairs where it's like suddenly you're in a new chair in a new position, talking to new people and there's a lot of thriving that will happen.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:28:14]
So I'm not sure I answered your question, but I will just say like I think we've all learned boundaries about what we won't tolerate. I think we've all learned preferences about what we prefer. I'm not sure we're all in the ideal place of being in relationship to those boundaries and preferences yet. I think that there's still some inner work and resorting. But I want to say that like trust, trust that your people and it doesn't have to be like people like a stadium of them.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:28:39]
It can be like people, like a couple of them that are there and that deeper bonds, nourishing connections are inevitable. Just it's just inevitable. And so just to hold that if you are sorting out dynamics that do feel not that fun and there is a grieving process around putting up an ending is that there are new beginnings, especially spring and summer.
Sarah Tacy [00:29:07]
Thank you so much. Yeah, I really appreciate it. And I'll just say that Jen will be back on where we'll do a full one hour segment and we'll talk more about personal and group thresholds, probably a little bit less astrologically focused, but I just asked her if she wouldn't mind hopping on and giving all of us a little insight into endings and beginnings and this particular threshold that we're at. So thank you so much, Jen, for popping on and giving us your, your incredible, I hate to call it just intelligence because it's embodied and it's lived. And so I'll just say your, your dynamic wisdom.
Jennifer Racioppi [00:29:53]
Yeah, I appreciate it. And likewise, right back at you and happy New Year, everyone.
Sarah Tacy [00:29:58]
